Police Arrest Ex-LG Boss over N7.8 Million Frauds

Niger state police command has arrested a former Caretaker Chairman of Lavun
local government of the state for allegedly defrauding the council to the tune of
N7.8 Million.

Reports say the former LG boss ran into traps set for him by  Gov. Muazu
Babangida Aliyu as he was (Ex-LG Boss) arrested while on the run.

The incumbent chairman had raised alarm over mismanagement of the council’s
fund by his predecessor.

Consequently, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr.
Adamu Usman set up a probe panel which was mandated to investigate the
matter.

The reports of the committee was said to have indicted the ex-chairman for gross
financial misconduct and abuse office.

The state Police Public Relations officer, ASP Richard Oguche said the victim
would soon be prosecuted in case adding that the police would always ensure
that corrupt public officials are sent to appropriate place where fraudsters should
be.
