A Year In Retrospect...by Tonye Princewill Campaign Organisation

In line with norms and customs at the end of any given year, a political Organization like ours
is expected to take a retrospective look at the outgoing year and from it project the coming
year with programs expected to be implemented for the emancipation and benefit of its
followers and the State at large. It is in this regard that we members of Tonye Princewill
Campaign Organization and Rivers State AC at large wish to state categorically that the year
2007 though great in the life of the democratic movement in Rivers State will breed better
democratic dividends in 2008 to the great people of Rivers State .

By the year 2007 no body gave us any chance considering the enormous and intimidating
powers of the retrogressive clique in charge of the State at the moment we came in but as
Trojans with a vision we marched on and before the people can say jack we have become the
consciousness and emancipator of our people. In the areas we needed to shout we shouted,
in the area we needed to offer suggestions we did, where we needed to crticise we hesitated
not with all modesty and at the risks of our lives, where we need to go to court we did
exemplified in our going to the Election Tribunal to challenge the charade that was called an
election in Rivers State and the illegal constitution of the dissolved Rivers State Independent
Electoral Commission headed by Dr. David O. Ogbonnaya and when it was time to be
statesmen we did to the chagrin of the enemies of Rivers State by withdrawing our Petition at
the Election Tribunal without any benefit. Today by the design of the Almighty God we are
principal partners in the governance of Rivers State based on the ruling of the Supreme Court
reinstating Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as the rightful Governor of our State and ousting
the clique that has held us as a people hostage these past eight years.

No matter the misgiving in some quarters that arose from withdrawing our petition from the
Election Tribunal the year 2007 is truly great in the life of the Action Congress in Rivers State
as the envisaged crisis expected to consume the party in the State did not in no way affect
the cohesion and internal unity of the party that saw to the suspension of Mr. Kpagane the
erstwhile State Chairman of the AC in Rivers State for fraudulent and anti-party activities. It
becomes a laughing able issue when Mr. Kpagane duly removed by the Leadership of the
party in the State turns round after two months of his suspension to announce the suspension
of the Leadership of the party in the State making himself an object of caricature in the
political circle.

With these achievements the year 2008 will surely be more challenging as we are expected to
surpass our 2007 records. In doing this our major goals by 2008 shall be - 1. To build a more
combat, compact, cohesive; revolutionary, futuristic and issue oriented, goal-driven Action
Congress that will be a challenge to the National and other State Chapters of AC and other
political parties in the country.

2 To continue with our partnership and collaboration with the Amaechi led administration to
offer our people good governance and keep at bay all retrogressive elements from hijacking
governance in the State again.

3. To promote tourism and attract the private sector into opening up the economy of the
State and create more job opportunities for our unemployed youths with a view to erasing all
forms of militancy associated with the unemployment of our youths. We have started with
the coming of the SilverBird, more of such ventures are in the pipeline courtesy of our
innovative Leader, Engr. Tonye Princewill.

4. To participate in the forthcoming LGA Election to be organized by the Rivers State
Independent Election Commission headed by Prof. Nimi Briggs and elect credible and God
fearing people as Chairmen in the March LGA Polls thereby demonstrating to the people of
Rivers State what we meant by the need to change the old order and provide a new lease of
life to our traumatized people.

5. Put our house in order in readiness for the fire works in the first quarter of 2008 with
desperate politicians of the old order that think they can hijack AC as a platform in order
destabilize and take over the reins of governance from Governor Rotimi Amaechi to continue
with their looting spree.

In the past eight years Rivers State has been a theatre of disaster. Division and petty
mindedness filled the air. We will demonstrate unity among our people and show that that
riverine or upland, Ikwerre or Kalabari we can all work towards one single objective and
support each other in the realisation of the goal. Rivers State now is more united than it has
been for years and the new spirit of optimism is directly linked to the new spirit of leadership.
If there is anything we must take from this it is that one person can make a difference no
matter how small. Ask yourself what can I do to help Rivers State move forward? Then do
it.

For those of you who are not from here bear with us. Rivers State needs some internal
healing. As you are aware aside from being the treasure base of the nation we are also the
place people come to when it is time to wind down. As one visitor said when asked what part
of Port Harcourt he wanted to hang out in, “Na all water dey quench fire!”   Our increased
love for ourselves is by no means less love for you. It is just that with our recent past to
contend with our return to the top of the hospitality list is now only a matter of time. Help us
to help you. If Rivers State sneezes, Nigeria catches cold.

In conclusion we will like to recognize our greatest partner apart from committed Leadership
of the party in the State - the press. One wonders what we could have achieved without the
support and contributions of the patriotic press ever ready to pass across our messages to
our people that a well respected Media Chief in the country described us as a creation of the
press, forgotten that the press can not create your messages if they are not issues orientated.
We expect better and greater partnership with these great minds into turning the fortunes of
our State around.

As our Leader the Prince of Niger Delta Politics, Prince Tonye Princewill turns 39 by 4th of
January, 2008 and our Media Chief, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze cloaks 50 by 1st January,
2008 the people of Rivers State should wait to witness the greatest year in their lives as God
will surely see us through to make our State the most viable and ideal State in Nigeria.
