NFA Sacks Vogts over Poor Performance
African Examiner
Published: February 6, 2008

The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has issued a notice
Of dismissal on the chief coach of the super Eagles over poor
performance at the nations cup 2008 in Ghana.

The notice of 30 days given to the German coach was in line with the
terms of his contract.

The clause on Vogts contract which says a notice of 30 days must be
given in case of dismissal had prevented the NFA from announcing his
outright sack as demanded by football loving Nigerians.

Assistant Coach Austin Eguavon would now be in charge of the team
until another replacement is found for the chief coach.

You would recall that Ghana bundled out Nigeria in the cup of Nations
in the quarter finals after Eagles managed to escape an earlier
elimination in the group stage.
Super Eagles managed to score three goals and conceded three goals
in the competition, the worst since 1984.
