A cross section of residents in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory has
condemned the recent over thirty percent increase in the prices of cooking gas
in Abuja.
The African Examiner gathered that a 12.5 kg coking gas that goes for 3,200
naira last year is now 4,000 naira while 10 kg that was 2,800 naira before now
goes for 3,200 naira.
All the stands of the cooking gas sellers and plants visited had jerked up their
prices; the development some Abuja residents complained “is too bad”.
A customer of one of the gas plant who simply identified himself as Asagba
Benjamin said he was short of words when they informed him of the increment in
the prices of refilling his cooking gas wondering what options the operators want
consumers to resort to.
A house wife, Mrs Susan Egwulobi condemned the increment in totality stating it
was uncalled for.
Mr Khalid Shuaibu of the Sarco Petroleum & Gas Limited along Murtala
Mohammed Way in Abuja said their suppliers did not give any reason for the
thirty percent increment in the prices of cooking gas.
He confirmed that the development has reduced the number of cylinders they
refilled daily.
