A  faction loyal to Oyo state Governor Alao Akala, held an emergency meeting
yesterday describing the directives by the National Working Committee of the PDP
which ordered fresh congress in the state as illegal and unlawful.

The meeting which had in attendance Governor Adebayo Akala, Chief Richard
Akinjide, Kolapo Ishola, Omololu Olunloyo, Senator Kamorundeen Adedibu and
others, described the action of the national leadership of the party  as an act of
illegality.

The meeting was held at the government house Agodi, Ibadan.

Briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, Former attorney general of the
federation, Chief Richard Akinjide, said the PDP national leadership is committing
what he described as contempt of court as a court of law had ruled that no state
executive should be dissolved.

In another development, security has been beefed up at the headquarters of the
Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP  in Abuja ahead of its National Convention in 2011.

Reports  say plain clothed and regular security personnel have been deployed to
the  Wadata House of the ruling party.

Vehicles are prevented from parking near the party secretariat  while visitors into
the building are thoroughly screened before entering the building.
