Alao-Akala Fingered In Oyo PDP Congress Crisis

Crisis and disruption of the distribution of the electoral materials have marred the ward congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state even as opponents accused former Gov. Adebayo Alao-Akala of being the architect of most of the crises.

African Examiner gathered that the distribution of materials was disrupted at the PDP secretariat by thugs allegedly loyal to Mr Alao-Akala.
A report sent to African Examiner explained that: ”As the Congress panel members were about to disseminate voting materials to the Returning Officers for each of the 33 local governments across the State, former governor Alao Akala arrived the scene with a motorcycle convoy.
“His arrival caused commotion with the thugs riding on the motorcycles, storming the PDP secretariat complex and carting away all the voting materials meant for the Congress.”
Some witnesses criticized Akala’s conduct and demanded his expulsion from the Party saying, “It’s the second interruption to the voting process following his behaviors at the recent PDP Zonal Congress.”
