Dr. Chris Ngige of Anambra State took his campaign for the forthcoming governorship election to the Igbo community in Lagos, promising that if elected governor, he will build a world class international airport in Anambra.

At the rally held at the International Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria, the senator appealed to the Igbo people to cast their votes for him to be re-elected governor for the second time as he is bent on transforming the state.

“I am not saying that I am good because no man is good but God alone,” stressing that he stood a better chance than his contestants in the state, disclosing that he left N12.8 billion in Anambra government’s coffer before leaving office, an achievement he said his political enemies counted a great feat.

Ngige decried his removal from office in 2006, saying that the reason behind his wanting to take another shot in governance was to complete his unfinished task, while boasting that he would halt criminal activities in Anambra State if elected governor.

On the purported deportation of the Igbo from Lagos, the former governor accused the incumbent Governor, Peter Obi for misleading the public, saying that 70 percent of people deported to Akwa, the Anambra capital were not Igbo, even though they bore Igbo names.

“When Peter Obi called to inform me about the development, I asked for the list of those deported and I found out that some the names were not even Igbo. They were trying to associate me with the deportation; I cannot be part of that. Lagos State Governor has also come out openly to apologize. Igbo is the only tribe in Lagos that has an honourable commissioner in Lagos cabinet,” he stated.

  1. All this while when Ladipo Market was closed, Ngige didnt do anything to help the traders, now he wants their votes. Of course he has failed. who is fooling who? He claims he will built an airport in 6 months, he thinks the people are fools.
