Another fuel tanker has exploded in Lagos, Nigeria and burnt up three other oil tankers around National Theatre area, Iganmu while the people were trying to transfer the fuel from the tanker to another.
Loud explosion was heard and followed by a raging fire, but luckily, here was no casuality as it was a Sunday.
It was gathered that the tanker had 40,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and exploded during the transfer of the fuel but noted that no life was loss.
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) spokesman, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye said the incident occurres around 11.00am as fire fighters and emergency officials battled to put out the fire which gutted other tankers.
“Three oil tankers have been engulfed by the inferno. The fire has been brought under control. Two tankers have been totally burnt while the third tanker is partially impacted.
“The cause was that they were trying to decan/trans-load from one tanker to the other, which should have involved the presence of fire men to be on stand-by in case of situation like this but they did not call in any fire men. There were no injuries at all and there was no casualty,” Farinloye explained.
