Armed Fulani Herdsmen Invade Kupa Land In Lokoja

From Ganiyu Nasirudeen, Lokoja – The armed Fulani herdsmen have invaded North Miza community located in Kupa land of Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, central Nigeria

The attack, which was carried out Saturday, was hinged on allegation of killing of cows belonging to the herdsmen by the council’s residents.

Earlier, the residents of the community have received threats of possible attack, a situation that prompted many to vacate and relocate to the neighbouring towns, including Lokoja township, the State capital, for safety.

Findings by AFRICAN EXAMINER Correspondent revealed that the latest invasion and bloody attack which casualties still remain unknown, was carried out after the mediation, initiated by the State Police Command.

During the meeting, the Command called on the representatives of Kupa and Fulani communities to stop hostilities and allow peace to reign in the area, hence the residents were shocked by the Saturday attack, which was launched by not less than 1000 Fulani herdsmen.

The magnitude of the attack was also unexpected as the Fulani and other tribes in the community have co – habituated harmoniously for long.
