Based on this medical problem, some notable Nigerians have called for his resignation because of his inability to adequately withstand the rigours of the office of the president of Nigeria.

However, some people have solidly stood behind him claiming his illness was not as bad as portrayed in the media. In the light of this, African Examiner brings this hot topic to the public domain. please keep the comments coming, Should Yar’Adua resign or not? -end- posted by Oludare Sunday Fase Editor African Examiner

The question should have been: why should Yar’Adua resign? This is because some super humans want him out. Nevertheless, Humans like any living thing are subject to the infirmity of diseases regardless of their status in life. The great Julius Caesar of Rome in spite of his epilepsy was able to conquer many nations as a general and led the Roma Empire in time of distress. Disease of any kind should not be a barrier to leadership. There is ability in disability. Sometimes it is the disability that keeps hope alive and bring out the best in us. Leadership is about critical thinking and meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people. If there is any man who can fix Nigeria right now, it is president Yar’Adua, once he does what is right by reducing corruption, creating more jobs, repairing broken infrastructure and creating new ones. YarAdua has nothing to lose to do what is right. His brother, late General Shehu Yar’Adua had better vision for Nigeria, yet the evil machination of General Babangida denied him the presidency, while Abacha’s satanic ambition caused his death. Yar’Adua, if he truly loves his brother, should save Nigeria now.
He should take good care of his health. Avoid public functions as much as possible to prevent any infection. He should set up a 15 man economic think tank, comprising of persons who have never been in government and who should be less than fifty years old in age to set up an economic, social, political and education agenda for Nigeria. Such persons could be selected through an international consulting agency that should base its selections not just on academic achievement of PhDs accumulation, but on their understanding of social lives, basic needs and workings of corporate and government machinery at clerical and lower levels from their life experience deduced from their personal statement.

yar’adua should be told that nigeria is not katsina state. he is ill and should not wait until he dies on the throne, let him copy the south african example and honourably quit the scene and enter into nigerian version of guiness book of records. we are tired of hearing to much rumours and silence from the person concerns.let him spare us the headache and quit honourably, once again nigeria is not katsina state. be blessed.

I wonder when Nigeria woud ever be satisfied. As Nigerians, this is time we need to support our able president. Fellow Nigeria, the presidency needs our love, we need to show to the world that beyond politic, the president is also human. The President dey shit, cough, and can be illed as well. So letter us not unnecessarily glofify his healty inadequacy. Let us leave the politician to their bitter political adventure. For them, it is business to fall others who stand on their ways, but for us, I mean decent and patrotic Nigerians, we are not afraid to preach the gospel, “Ya’adual is fit for President” Carry go Mr. President. Please give him the chance to serve his beloved country and in case he join his ancestor, it is the will of God. Then, Nigerians will give him national honour a compatriot deserves.

Let him soldiers on till the will of God is done. Would support his resignation if there is any medical report about the state of his mind. But seriously, i think, Nigeria has to first decide on the type of a political system the citizenry wants. Enough of our building our politics around persons Lets go to South Africa and learn.

Whether or not President Yar’Adua resigns for whatever reason is a purely constitutional matter. I believe that Nigerian instruments take adequate care of this.

Nigerians should give the president more time before asking him to resign. His ministers should be able to carry on while he battles his kidney problem? do you blame Yar’Adua as much as you will blame Obasanjo. This man did not want to become the president of Nigeria. He knew his medical condition but Baba proudly installed him in a most corrupt elections in the world. we get what Obasanjo gave us. So let us bear with him till he finishes the first term, but Malam, no second term, ple. lol!!!
