Reps Chief Whip Emeka Ihedioha in N150 Million anniversary fraud
The Chief Whip of the House of Representatives of Nigeria is currently facing a tough time in the lower house as some members are demanding his removal.
The aggrieved members led by Dino Melaye (PDP Kogi) are accusing Mr Ihedioha of mismanaging the N150 million released to him by the house to organise the ten anniversary of uninterrupted legislature in Nigeria.
The anniversary was supposed to celebrate unbroken legislature which coincided with the 10th anniversary of democracy in Nigeria, as it was noted that legislature had in the past being the casualty of military incursion into Nigeria politics.
It was correctly argued that the Military’s first target whenever they strike is the legislature hence explains the need to celebrate 10 years of continuing legislature
in Nigeria.
The program was designed to unite past house speakers as well as old members and the new members so as to review the progress and challenges of the road so far.
Mr Ihedioha collected N150 million and put up a badly organised program in order to conserve the fund.
Following the anniversary which was held at the hallow chamber of the house, members of the organizing committee are seeking the removal of the House Chief Whip accusing him of diverting the N150 million for personal use.
The coordinator of the Ihedioha must go project Dino Melaye insisted that the Chief must be made to render account. H e has collected signatures of about 245 members who want the whip removed.
Melaye also wants the house leader Tunde Akogun, who collected N400 million and put up a bad retreat, and the deputy house leader who collected N50 million for the afro-arab parliament conference be removed from office.
African Examiner gathered that Members and even Journalists in the house perceieve Mr Ihedioha as being pompous and obstinate, saying that the move against him would teach him a lesson in humility.
Celebrating whatever at whatever costs show the gross irresponsibility of our legislators and their inordinate ambition to amass wealth. All those monies ranging up to N600 million naira total is enough to fund a major project that would create ever lasting jobs for a couple of Nigerian families and provide taxes for all levels of government. What a shame and lack of ideas. Whenever a body is bereaved of ideas and hope, it indulges in petty stealing and unnecessary programs to defraud the public. Members are crying wolf because they did not get their kick back or they got less of what was promised from the money voted. What a legislative body that has no shame. Only Nigerians can help Nigeria.
