BREAKING: NLC Election Disrupted As Members Protest Against Foul Play

From Ganiyu Nasirudeen – The ongoing election conference of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Abuja has been disrupted due to alleged foul play by the electoral committee.

Supporters of the Presidential candidates are presently entangled with one another, while ballot boxes were hijacked and smashed.

The protesting members at the International Conference Centre’s, Abuja venue of the conference were seen protesting against what they described as bias against particular candidate.

Those jostling for the post of National President include: the National President of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Ayuba Wabba; the General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees, Joe Ajaero and the National President of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Igwe Achese.

Achese however stepped down Wednesday from the race. One of the major conditions agreed by the outgoing EXCO is that the new NLC leader should emerge from the private sector.
