Buhari at a declaration held at the popular Eagles square, FCT, Abuja and attended by four APC serving Governors, Senators and notable national chieftains of the party within and outside the country, complained that the country has been divided and experience serious setback in the critical sectors since 1999, declared he wished to run for the presidency to restore the quality of education; improve agricultural productivity; reform the industrial sector for huge employment opportunities as well as develop solid minerals exploitation.

Lamenting the image crisis being faced by every Nigerian across the globe, General Buhari who is the second APC Presidential aspirant to declare his intention, promised if given the ticket, his government would restore the lost honour and dignity to the Nigerians.

His administration he pledged would also accord due respect to principle of separation of powers among the three tiers of government and the citizenry.

He regretted the socio-economic damages caused by the Boko Haram insurgents to the people of North Eastern part of the country, so also the downturn in the nation’s economy.

In his prologue ahead of Buhari’s formal declaration, the former ruling PDP National Chairman, Chief Audu Ogbe, said that providing employment for the teeming jobless young Nigerians was the APC’s major concern. He therefore promised that the APC government would ensure this goal was achieved if elected into power by Nigerians.

Speaking on religion fanaticism allegation against him, Chief Ogbe asserted that General Buhari was not a religion bigot as erroneously and widely spread and believed. He stressed if he were, he, the party Governors and other national APC national Chieftains who were Christians, would have no business in the party nor give him their support.

He pointed out the propaganda were being launched by those were bent to use tribes and religion to divide Nigeria.

Oratory Ogbe described Buhari as “cool as cucumber, as deep as ocean”, not harsh and incorrupt Nigerian. Buhari, he added was a man of “unusual character”, humble, honest and focus.

He extended fellowship greetings to the other party Presidential aspirants, including Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kuwankwaso as well as the members of #BriingBackOurGirls who are also APC stalwarts for their untiring efforts in protest for the freedom of the abducted girls.

The Chairman of the Nigeria’s Governor’s Forum (NGF) and Rivers’s state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, spoke on behalf of the other APC Governors. He said the Governors were ready to support the move and train that would effect positive change in the country, saying these are the qualities in General Buhari.

He challenged the PDP to produce “single or half” aspirant with the equal stunning qualities like Buhari.

Amaechi therefore called on Nigerians to support his candidature, collect their permanent Voters cards and deal with the ruling PDP by voting it out of power in next year elections, just like the Osun people dealt with it, in the state’s last governorship election.

He berated the Federal Government for politicizing glory of successful curtailment of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country. Ameachi stated Rivers state has since spent over N1. 5 Billion on war against the virus, while FG just released N200 Million to the state.

While noting he did not know how much the Lagos state government spent on EVD, he stated if he had waited for the late FG’s disbursement, what could have happened regarding the effect of the ravaging deadly virus on the state.

He reiterated the FG has failed in its promise to ensure stable power supply as most parts of the country still languish in the darkness.

The Serving Governors at the declaration included: Adams Oshiomhole, (Edo) Umaru Tanko Al –Makura (Nasarrawa), Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) Lagos and Amaechi of Rivers state
