A 23- year old man has drowned in a swimming pool, Victoria Island area of Lagos on Christmas Day celebration, says the Lagos State Fire Services.
The victim, Sodiq Ojomo was said to have drowned while attempting to swim at a swimming pool located in an eight storey building at 3/5 Durosimi Etti Street, Victoria Island at the early hours of Friday.
There have been a Christmas party in the building where a Catering Service Company was recruited to render service through the night.
The deceased was a staff of the Catering Service Company. He was told along with other staff not to swim at the swimming pool but he disobeyed the order and went swimming and got drowned.
Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe said the tragedy occurred at the early hours of Friday, saying that Ojomo was told not to swim at the swimming pool by the Supervisor of the Catering Company.
According to him, he removed his clothes when his supervisor was not around and decided to swim, as he jumped into the swimming pool and got drowned.
Fadipe said his remain was removed by men of the fire services from Onikan and Etti-Osa Fire Stations.
