The Citizens Popular Party (CPP) has strongly condemned the Christmas Eve
bomb blasts in Jos, Plateau State capital in which many people were killed and
wounded. It is outrageous and a wicked Christmas gift to the good people of
Plateau State.
This was contained in a statement signed by its national chairman Barr. Maxi Okwu
“We are appalled by this act of terrorism against the fatherland. It is sad that
misguided elements in the country have resorted to the use of bomb which is alien
to our culture. The 1st October 2010, bomb blasts in Abuja that marred Nigeria’s
Golden Jubilee celebration, the serial bomb blasts in Delta State, the seizure of
containers loaded with sophisticated weapons and explosives in Lagos, portend
grave danger to the security, unity and stability of the country” the statement
stated.
The statement partly reads:
"Several Federal and State Governments panels had been set up to investigate
the remote and immediate causes of disturbances in Jos, till date no action has
been taken on their recommendations which could have resolved the serial
massacre of fellow Nigerians.
We call on President Goodluck Jonathan, the Inspector General of Police, Director
General State Security Service and the Chief of Army Staff to take immediate
action and fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly act and bring them to book.
This madness must stop.
We commiserate with the families of those who lost their loved ones and pray that
God Almighty will give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses. We also
pray for the speedy recovery of those who were wounded in the bomb blasts. The
2011 general election will be a mirage without security, unity and stability in the
polity."
