 Crash In Oil Price: Enugu to Hold First Ever Investment Summit to Woo Investors

ENUGU, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) –  As part of measure to overcome the present crash in global oil price, that has continued to affect the Nigerian economy, the Enugu state government has concluded plans for an investment Summit aimed at wooing both local and international investors to the state.

The event, tagged “Oganiru summit” scheduled to take place between 12 to 14 April, 2016 in Enugu would focus on ten different sectors.

Already, the Department for International Development(DFID) has indicated interest to partner with the state in ensuring a successful summit, which is the brain child of the state Economic Advisory Committee headed by a renowned Catholic priest, Monsignor, Professor Obiorah Ike of the Enugu Diocese.

Director- General of the summit, Mr Ike Chioke, who disclosed this  Tuesday while briefing newsmen on the forthcoming event, called prospective investors to take advantage of the exercise to come to the state for business.

According to him, the summit would go a long way in attracting investors from different parts of the world to Enugu state, adding that the area which pride itself as the Coal city state, is endowed with abundant natural resources, including Coal, seeking for attention.

He stated that the summit would focus on ten different sectors, which included mining and solid minerals development, tourism, Agriculture, improvement of health tourism, real estate, power generation, Transportation, among others.

The Summit D-G, who was accompanied on the briefing by some members of the state Economic Advisory Committee, stated that as part of efforts to discourage health tourists from seeking attention abroad, the  summit would help in attracting modern health facilities to state.

Chioke  also hinted that the summit would also help to attract foreign investors that would help in developing the already approved Free Trade Zone that would be cited at Night Mile Corner.
