CSO to Yahaya Bello: Abuse of Judiciary Will Hunt You

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – As the conspiracy to remove the Kogi State Chief Judge thickens, a civil rights group has called on Nigerians to resist the illegality, while warning Gov. Yahaya Bello to be prepared for the consequences of undermining the judiciary.

“You should remember that your administration and that of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari will not last forever,” warned, Coalition in Defence of Nigerian Democracy and Constitution in a statement by its Convener, Ariyo-Dare Atoye.

The group described the executive-induced plot to the remove the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah as “an evil agenda to subjugate the judiciary and finally enslave the good people of Kogi State.”

“We must do everything lawful and democratic to prevent the budding tyrant in Kogi from subverting the judiciary, and we must rise in defence of the Justice Ajana, the state chief judge and prevent another Onnoghen scenario.

“Yahaya Bello must be reminded that he was an ordinary civilian before he became a privileged politician, and we want to quickly also tell him that he will leave the office one day, and return as an ordinary civilian, and he will be hunted by his planted deeds.

“Immunity is not forever, and no matter how long it may take, what goes around will surely come around, but before Yahaya Bello faces the future, it is our collective responsibility to resist this rising unconscionable attempt by the executive to destroy the judiciary.”

CDNDC also condemned the State’s House of Assembly for conniving with the governor to execute this “devious plot,” describing the legislators as “a disgrace and a threat to democracy.”

The group described the action of the lawmakers as “an exercise in futility,” because the National Judicial Council, NJC, must first act in any allegation against a judge before other processes will follow.
