From Ignatius Okpara, Enugu – The Peoples Democratic party PDP primary election for the senate held on Sunday across Nigeria, turned dramatic in Enugu east senatorial district, as the three aspirants including the incumbent, senator Gil Nnaji held parallel primaries, and declared themselves winners.

African Examiner reports that while Nnaji and his group held their own purported primaries in a hall close to his father’s house at Nkwo-Nike, in Enugu east council area of the state, the immediate past Chief of staff to Governor Sullivan Chime, Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo and her camp conducted theirs at the Nnamdi Azikiwe statdium, Enugu amid tight security.

However, former Mister of Information Mr. Frank Nweke, (Jrn) and his supporters organised theirs at his country home, Ozalla, in Nkanu west local government area of the state.

The immediate past chairman of Enugu South local government Area, Ozor Nwabueze Okafor, also held his won in an undisclosed venue.

Apart from conducting parallel primaries, the interesting in the entire episode is that the four gladiators gunning for the position declared themselves winners and candidate that will fly the party’s flag in the 2015 general election.

But investigation by our correspondent revealed that barring any last minute political maneuvering, incumbent senator Gil Nnaji, may carry the day in the end as some of the electoral officers from the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and a team from PDP national secretariat allegedly observed his own exercise.
