EFCC engages Interpol's help to track down Adamu Muazu
Ayo Afolabi, Nigeria .
There are very strong indication that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) might
enlist the assistance of the Interpol to help trail the former Bauchi State Governor Adamu Muazu who
allegedly eloped from the country since July this year.
The former number one citizen of Bauchi state had escaped to London under the pretext that he was
going to attend the graduation ceremony of his child who had just passed out of college.
Sources at the EFCC who confided in the African Examiner said that the hide and seek game being
played by Muazu who was alleged to have looted several billion from Bauchi State coffers when he
held sway there, was frustrating the anti graft body.
According to the EFCC source, the behaviour of Former Governor Muazu who has refused to return
home since July to come and answer to the charges of alleged embezzlement level against him shows
that he is not clean after all.
Part of the allegations against him include inflation of contracts and diversion of funds meant for the
State for personal use, the source added.
The EFCC wondered how a graduation could last as it is now, we are considering engaging the
service of Interpol to help us track Muazu down wherever he is hiding.
The source further disclosed to African Examiner that the Attorney General and minister of Justice,
Michael Aondoaka had already been asked to advise the Commission on the on the legal
technicalities of how to pursue the matter.
The EFCC has been on the trail of many past Governors who are alleged to have misappropriated
their states funds. They include Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, Alamieyesia of Bayelsa, Joshua Dariye
of Plateau and Taofiq Ladoja of Oyo State among others.
