ENUGU, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have launched a manhunt on a herbalist who specializes in treating Armed Robbery suspects that sustained injuries during gun battle with security men.
The Command disclosed that the herbal clinic is located at Orba, the home town of Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, in Udenu local Government Area of the State.
Enugu State Police Public Relations officer (PPRO) Ebere Amarizu, who disclosed this to AFRICAN EXAMINER on Tuesday in Enugu, said the Herbalist has abandoned the said clinic for fear of being nabbed.
“He had allegedly taken custody of a suspected armed robbery suspect who gave his name as Ambrose Okwudili Ugwu of Isiamaelu village Ohodo in Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu state who was undergoing treatment until operatives working on information struck the herbal clinic.
Amarizu, hinted “the suspect was promptly arrested with bullet injury.
“The suspect alongside others had allegedly blocked Enugu/Markurdi Expressway by Echara Ohodo with heavy logs of wood and were holding motorists to hostage at about 2 am of 18/6/16”
“A combined team of Special Anti Robbery Squad SARs Enugu state and Military men acting on a tip off promptly swung into action and in the ensuing exchange of gun duel, hoodlums believed to have been touched by bullet escaped into the bush until on 1/7/16 through intelligence information the herbal clinic was raided” Amarizu stated.
The PPRO added that it was during the exchange of gun fire that one of the suspects who was nabbed with bullet injury at the herbal clinic sustained the wound.
According to him, the arrested suspect is presently helping the operatives in their investigations, “just as manhunt on the herbalist has been intensified.
