EURO 2016: England Manager, Roy Declares He’s Fearless Of Next Opponents

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – England Manager Roy Hodgson has declared that he does not fear any team in the knockout stages of the ongoing EURO 2016 in France.

While noting that he did not see any team being scared of his side, Roy cautioned that he did not want to be too negative as England have had three games at the tournament, but were held by Russia, who are the worst team in the Championship.

The Manager recalled that his team beat Wales with a last-minute goal and could not score against Slovakia.

He however indicated that it was not a total disaster finishing second in Group B, as he noted that the team could still get a favourable tie depending on who is runner-up in Group F out of Portugal, Austria, Iceland and Hungary.

Still, Roy promised that his team would improve in their subsequent matches.

“We are in the same half of the draw as Germany, Spain, Italy and hosts France, who would be our likely opponents if we reach the quarter-finals, but I am not looking that far ahead.

“I think this tournament is wide open, which is a big positive for England, but at the moment we should only be thinking about how we will get through the last 16” Roy again noted.
