Barring any last minute hitches, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus of the House of Representatives may reconvene the plenary session next Tuesday.
A reliable source at the National Secretariat of PDP told African Examiner’s correspondent that as prelude to the reconvening, a meeting has been scheduled with the Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha and other PDP members on Monday to fine tune strategy for the reopening of the House.
According to the source, the PDP members who have travelled outside Abuja are being secretly contacted to return back by Sunday.
The move is being planned to catch the All Progressive Congress members of the House unaware since they have all travelled out of town.
On the issue of quorum for convening the session, the source said that the PDP members are enough to form quorum adding that it can only become an issue if somebody raises point of order to indicate that a quorum is not formed.
The source said further that the PDP members are willing to play the spoiler role so as to guarantee their tickets especially those who want to be governors.
The PDP members in the House presently stands at 205 and a total of 240 members being 2/3 of the 360 members is needed to effect the removal of Speaker Aminu Tambuwal.
The House had adjourned session till December 3rd citing oversight functions and preparation for 2015 budget as reasons before Tambuwal pull the surprise by announcing his defection to APC.
