EXCLUSIVE REPORT: Fuel Scarcity Bites Hard In Enugu As Litre Sells For N120

From Ignatius Okpara, Enugu – The sudden resurfacing of fuel scarcity in Enugu state since last week had continued to make life unbearable for motorists and residents of the area as a litre of the   essential commodity is now between N110 to N120 per litre.

African Examiner Correspondent who went round parts of the state on Monday to monitor the situation observed that apart from very few stations owned by members of the Independent petrol Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, the product is no where to be found in all the major stations.

The ugly development, which has brought untold hardship to residents of the state, especially civil servants, following the hike in transport fares, had continued to attract sharp criticism on the president Goodluck Jonathan’s PDP led federal government.

Despite the exorbitant price, the few IPMAN stations with the commodity are still experiencing intimidating long queues.

Efforts by our Correspondent to speak with some of the fuel station managers on the development hit the rock, as they refused to talk to our man, rather they said: “you people should go and ask NNPC and president Goodluck Jonathan, what is happening.”

Some motorists who spoke to African Examiner stated that “it is quite unfortunate that the PDP led federal government could allow Nigerians to be facing this kind of suffering again yet the president is seeking re election.

A commercial bus driver, who identified himself as Mr. John Obidike, told our Correspondent at RANCO fuel station, along Zik’s Avenue, Enugu, that “we are tired of the PDP government, we need change in this next election.

He said: “My broda, oga journalists, these PDP people and their government have failed us in all areas, and that is why we must all join hands to vote them out during the next general elections.

“Imagine, we have been here, since 45 minutes ago, yet we can’t buy fuel, and Jonathan, and his wayo PDP is still asking us to vote for them again, No way” he declared

“The only thing I want to tell our people in the south east is that they should shine their eyes this time around, and not allow any body, especially the PDP people to deceive them with propaganda, because we have suffered enough under PDP government.”
