A  bomb suspected to be detonated by two female suicide bombers at Malkohi Internal Displace Persons (IDP) camp in Adamawa state killed 7 people including the bombers and injured 13 people including 4 NEMA officials.

Adamawa state commissioner of information, Ahmed Sajoh confirmed the incident to journalists in Yola shortly after visiting the victims of the blast at the Federal Medical Centre.

Sajoh lamented that an unaccompanied toddler was among the dead victims just as he expressed sadness that even those on humanitarian service were not spared by the wickedness of the suicide bombers .

He further explained that one of the 4 NEMA officials has already been treated and discharged while 2 others sustained minor injuries adding that the one who sustained the most critical injury was responding to treatment.

In the meantime, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed sadness over the blast.

In a post Friday, Atiku who hails from the North Eastern State bemoaned he was “deeply saddened by the bombing incident at the Yola IDP camp today”, declaring that only persons with hearts of evil could perpetuate such evil act.

“The Yola IDP camp is the largest in Nigeria, and refuge to thousands of people who fled the insurgency from Borno and Yobe.

“Many people I know were working as volunteers in the camp, including staff and students of AUN, who sustained minor injuries in today’s blast.

“Today’s attack is an attempt to break the spirits of the people who came to seek refuge. The perpetrators will know no peace” the ruling APC Chieftain declared.

Atiku however maintained despite the sad event, his people would not be deterred and give up, vowing “we will win the war against terrorism. We shall overcome!”
