FG Declares Monday, May 2, Public Holiday To Mark 2016 Workers’ Day

The Federal Government (FG) has declared Monday, May 2, 2016 as public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day.

Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), made the declaration in a statement issued Thursday in Abuja and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Bassey Akpanyung.

Dambazau congratulated the Nigerian Workers for their resilience, hard work and commitment to the change mantra of incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari despite current challenges.

The Minister enjoined workers to continue to support the President in his drive to fight corruption; ensure security of lives and property as well as stabilise the economy through jobs creation and diversification of the economy.

While wishing them joyful and peaceful celebration, Dambazau urged Nigerian Workers to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and remain productive for the growth and development of the country.
