The former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana has described the first civilian Governor of Plateau State and first National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Late Solomon Daushep Lar as a man of great vision.
Gana, who is the Chairman of the Lar’s Funeral Committee, stated this during a valedictory session held at the premises of the State High Court Complex in Jos on Thursday, in honour of the late elder statesman.
He said, “Chief Solomon Lar was a man of great vision, he understood the yearnings of our people, he identified with those yearnings. But one of the key things about a leader is that he must have a vision, he must have the knowledge of the way because people are following”. Chief Solomon Lar knew exactly where he was taking his people to.
He added that, the late first Civilian Governor of Plateau, ” was a tremendous man of courage.
Gana who is also the National Chairman of Middle Forum commended the judiciary for honoring Lar.
“We pray that as lawyers you will continue to dispense justice fairly.”
Also speaking, Governor Isa Yuguda, described Chief Solomon Lar as, “a dogged fighter for the poor, a man of peace and that of justice.
“So, as a son and somebody who is now into politics, I have received a lot of wise counselling from Baba, at different times and I have learnt a lot from him, and I believe part of the successes I have been experiencing, with the support of the Almighty God, I strongly believe he has used Baba to make it possible for me to achieve successes.
He appreciated the Judiciary for honouring the Elder Statesman, saying “It is an honour he eminently deserves.”
