Governor Ugwuanyi’s Two Million Naira Gift Tears Rangers FC Apart

By Ignatius Okpara, Enugu – The two million naira cash gift given to Rangers International FC of Enugu on Friday by the state governor, Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi has torn the club apart over sharing formula.

AFRICAN EXAMINER Sports reports that some officials of the Enugu club side, had on Friday morning after their training at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium Enugu, threw decorum to the wind, as they engaged in a shouting match with the General Manager of the team, Ozor Chibuzor, for allegedly short-changing them during the sharing of the largesse.

A Source in the club who craved anonymity told our Correspondent that “what happened on Friday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium was a show of shame”

Governor Ugwuanyi, had last Friday while hosting the Flying Antelopes at the government House, splashed them with the controversial two million naira that has torn the club apart.

According to the source, the misconduct by the officials, especially that of the Camp commandant and the kit manager who felt badly short-changed by the amount they received from the governor’s gift was a national disgrace.

“It was really a shameful act from both club officials this was supposed to be a gift to motivate the team for the task against Enyimba in Aba on sunday, but it now seems to be a curse.

“It got so bad that the technical adviser in trying to settle the rift lost his eye glasses.” said the source.
