Guber Polls: Ebonyi APC Raises Alarm On Sale Of Result Sheets To PDP By INEC Officials

FROM IGNATIUS OKPARA, Enugu – Barely five days to the governorship and House of Assembly polls in Nigeria, the Ebonyi state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over alleged massive sale of result sheets in the area to highest bidder.

The party accused the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of masterminding the business of buying the INEC result sheets.

According to APC, the unholy act is aimed at helping PDP rig the April 11 governorship and state assembly elections in the state.

To this end, the party, has called on chairman of INEC, Prof Attahiru Jega, to as a matter of urgency investigate the alleged fraud, which it claimed also equally took place during the March 28, presidential and national assembly elections in the state.

Addressing newsmen on Monday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, Chairman of APC, Hon. Ben Nwaobasi, said the party has received reports that result sheets of the forthcoming April 11 elections have been sold to the PDP by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as part of the grand design to rig the election in favour of PDP.

He however, urged the security agents to investigate the matter, adding that it was capable of causing crisis in the elections.

His words: “We can’t allow a repeat of the National Assembly elections in the state, and we are calling on the security agents to brace up to the challenges ahead.

“We have heard that people have bought the results sheets for next elections and we are watching them. We have alerted the whole world on this,” he stated.

On the preparedness of the party for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections, Nwaobasi said the APC is poised to win the polls.

“Nobody should be given preferential treatment and we are calling on INEC not to be funny anymore. We can’t accept what happened in the National Assembly elections again, if it re-occurs we will fight it to the end.”
