Gunmen Abduct Deeper Life Pastor, Demand N50 Million Ransom

By Ayo Balogun, Lagos

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Gunmen have abducted a key Deeper Life Bible Church pastor in Okene, Kogi State and demanded for N50 million ransom for his release.

Pastor David Onubedo, the Kebbi State Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, DCLM was abducted by the gunmen on Monday evening after the Bible Study of the church.

Onubedo was said to have been abducted at home by the kidnappers and whisked him away and later contacted his wife to demand for N50 million ransom.

A family source told African Examiner that the kidnappers had called Onubedo’s wife and demanded for N50 million to secure his release.

Some key leaders in Deeper Life confirmed the kidnap of Onubedo, but they did not want their name mentioned as they are not permitted to speak to pressmen.

There is anxiety in Kebbi State where he is the State Overseer as prayers are going on for God to intervene and set him free from his captors.

Text messages are being circulated to Deeper Life members nationwide to embark on intensive prayer to that the kidnappers could release their key leader.

The text message read: Please, begin to pray and send prayer request to others for the release of Pastor Onubedo, a state overseer in Deeper Life Ministry who was reportedly kidnapped at his residence immediately after the Bible Study tonight (Monday).

“The pastor wants us to immediately enter prayer closets both as individuals, families and in groups for his immediate and safe release…key in quick.”

As at the time of filing this report, Onubedo is still being held by the kidnappers.

It could be recalled that members of the Boko Haram terrorists attacked a Deeper Life Bible Church in Okene, Kogi State two years ago and killed about 20 people.
