The Ooni of Ife designate, Prince Adeyeye-Enitan Ogunwusi has entered the ancient town of Osun State, South West Nigeria.
Prince Ogunwusi who arrived Ife Wednesday, 2:00 pm was received by the Ife Chiefs who were led by the Lowa Adimula, Oba Joseph Ijaodola at the Ife end of the Ibadan-Ife expressway.
After, the new Ooni was driven in company of the Chairman, Giesi Royal house screening committee, Professor Adekanye Aderibigbe and was subsequently received by his father, who facilitated his nomination for the Ooni’s stool.
The incoming paramount Monarch’s arrival was greeted by elated natives and residents of Ife, who went into frenzy jubilation on sighting the new traditional ruler.
Ahead of his coming, markets and shops were closed, while commercial activities were locked down since Tuesday, as a mark of respect for the youthful Prince and as tradition demands.
Prince Ogunwusi was originally scheduled to arrive Ife Tuesday, but the plan was aborted, as the required rites for his entry was inconclusive, thus made him stayed back in the neighbouring Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The pre-installation rite (Ipebi) exercise is expected to last for the next three months, after which the coronation and formal ascension to the throne will hold.
It would be recalled the Ooni was unveiled Monday morning by the State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, in Osogbo, the State capital.
Recall the immediate past paramount ruler of the ancient Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade passed on, July 28, 2015 after illness in a London hospital.
