Imo PDP Supporters On Rampage, Want Ihedioha Declared Winner

FROM IGNATIUS OKPARA, Owerri – Dozens of Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, protesting the outcome of the governorship election in Imo State, on Monday unleashed mayhem on innocent residents of Owerri, the state capital.

The PDP supporters, who carried placards with various inscriptions, demanded that Governor Rochas Okorocha, should vacate the Government House for their candidate, Emeka Ihedioha.

They had during the violence protest stopped and harassed motorists on major roads in Owerri, especially Okigwe Road.

The protesters, who were joined by miscreants, also beat up some road users, including commercial tricycle operators who refused to support their cause.

However, the Police arrived the scene of the protest when it appeared to be getting out of hand and fired tear gas to disperse the aggressive crowd.

Reacting to the development, the Director General of Rochas Okorocha Campaign Organisation, Iheukwumere Alaribe, said they should channel their protest to INEC for refusing to announce the result.

He warned the PDP supporters against taking the laws into their hands.
