Jonathan Condoles National CONFAB On Alkali’s Demise, Extoles Anenih and Okoli As Aide Dispels Ebola Test Report


President Goodluck Jonathan has sent his condolence on the passing away last weekend of former delegate to the National Conference 2014, Professor Muhammad Nur Alkali.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, the President stated on behalf of himself and the Federal Government, commiserated  with the Alkali’s family, the leadership and delegates to the National CONFAB, as well as Nigeria’s Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), which the late erudite represented at the Conference.

President Jonathan therefore urged his family, friends, associates and colleagues at the Conference to be consoled by the knowledge that he lived a fulfilled life of “patriotic service to his community and country”.

Mr. President who acknowledged late Professor’s transition noted that the country would owe him gratitude for his worthy contributions to the conference, as well as for his distinguished service on several other national assignments. He prayed God to grant him eternal rest.

In another development, the President has expressed appreciation on the commitment of Chief Tony Anenih’s to the country’s peace, unity and progress.

In his congratulatory message to the ruling party’s elder, on his 81st birthday today, President Jonathan applauded the elder statesman’s leadership qualities, courage and forthrightness.

“On behalf of my family, the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and on my own behalf, I extend very warm felicitations to you as you turn 81.

“Your uncommon leadership qualities, courage, forthrightness, and evident faith in the peace, unity, progress, and prosperity of our dear nation have seen you remain one of Nigeria’s most highly respected political icons over the years.

“You have constantly given unstinting support to our Administration and patriotic service to the Fatherland. For this, we remain eternally thankful,” the President’s said.

Similarly, President Jonathan has congratulated a leading national industrialist, Dr. (Mrs.) Stella Okoli on her 70th birthday, extolling her courageous life of uncommon accomplishments and selfless service to others.

Mr President’s messages which were contained in a statement by his media aide, Dr. Abati, said Dr. Okoli’s life was “uncommon accomplishments”, and lived with “unwavering commitment to the highest ideals of diligence, selfless service, courage, and abiding faith, is an enduring source of pride and inspiration to generations of Nigerians…”

Meanwhile, contrary to media reports last weekend, Dr. Abati has dispelled reports that Mr. President and his entourage were subject to Ebola screening and test on arrival to United States (US) on Sunday. Abati affirmed the report was untrue, confirming that the Presidential team was warmly received and already on ground. He promised to keep Nigerians abreast as situation unfold.
