Kashamu’s Appeal Panel Dissolved Over Alleged Compromise

By Akin Soneyin

The appeal court panel sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, hearing the petition filed by Senator Buruji Kashamu, representing the Ogun East Senatorial district has been dissolved.

The development was necessitated by allegation of compromise against the State’s Election Petition Tribunal, which recently ruled that there should be a re-run in 110 poling units in the State’s Eastern Senatorial district.

It is believed that the move was to check the repeat of alleged “compromise” in the lower court.

Political party supporters, Lawyers and newsmen who had besieged the court Tuesday, were shocked and disappointed when a court official emerged and announced that Justice Tobi Ebiowel-led panel has been dissolved by the President of Court of Appeal.

The official also informed that a new panel would be reconstituted to handle the case, adding that the concerned parties would be notified, with respect to the schedule of fresh hearing by the new appeal panel.
