Lagos Says Website Recovered From Terrorists

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Pro- Shiite jihadists have hacked the official website of the Lagos State Government, www.lagosstate.gov.ng and posted messages describing the Nigerian Government, United States, Israel and others as state sponsors of terrorism.

The group posted the message probably in retaliation for the arrest of leader of the Shiite Islamic Sect, Zakzaky. The message stated that Nigerian government, United States of America, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar are state sponsors of terrorism.

The message posted on the website reads: “In the Name of God. Message to Nigeria Government and State Sponsors of Terrorism (USA, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar): Boko Haram and ISIS are terrorists. They are killing Muslims and innocent people because of your dirty money, Hey Nigeria Government, you killed thousands of Muslims and specially Zakzaky’s family too, You are all terrorists, You are all murderers, God damn you! Allahu maulana wala mula lakum.”

However, the Lagos State Government confirmed that its website, www.lagosstate.gov.ng which was hacked by unknown individual or group posting provocative messages on the site has been recovered.

A statement issued and signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, said while the website has been retrieved, the bugs left behind from the hack are being cleared.

Ayorinde promised that the website would soon be restored, better and stronger to continue in its tradition of giving accurate and up-to-date information on the activities, policies and programmes of the State Government.

He said that the incident has been reported to the State Security Service and the Police for further investigation so as to uncover those behind the unscrupulous act.

The Commissioner implored Lagos residents to be supportive of the present administration and continue to follow its activities on other social media platforms like Twitter @ followlasg and on Facebook.com/followlasg.
