MASSOB Crisis Deepens As Anti Uwazurike Faction Accuses Him Of Enriching Himself

The lingering leadership crisis rocking the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has worsened, as faction has accused its embattled leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike of using the organization to enrich himself.

The rival group, also alleged that Uwazurike, has been sacrificing his members for selfish gains.

Public Relation officer, PRO of the faction, Uchenna Madu, was reacting to the recent arrest and alleged Killing of MASSOB members by security operatives during the celebration of its 16 years anniversary in parts of South east Nigeria.

Madu, in a statement said “Our faction sympathises with the brainwashed and hypnotised members of Uwazuruike, faction who stupidly died or were detained on the occasion of celebrating the 16 years anniversary, and after police invasion of Uwazuruike’s residence opposite Ojukwu Memorial Library at Owerri, Imo state”.

He stated that “after some consultations with Abuja, Ralph Uwazuruike, was released after assuring the police that the anniversary will not hold and when he returned to Owerri, he fled to Lagos without telling his members to call off the anniversary or celebrate indoors.

“If Ralph Uwazuruike is a selfless leader who has the interest of his members at heart, and who still believes in MASSOB programmes and possibility of Biafra Actualization, which church did he attended his own thanksgiving” the group asked.

“Did he celebrate in his house or hotel? Why is it that Ralph Uwazuruike, did not attend any church in Igbo land to celebrate the 16th year anniversary of MASSOB struggle to actualize Biafra?”

He however, described Uwazurike’s style of struggle as laughable, noting that for the past 16 years, no single aim of the movement has been achieved and concluded.

“We condemn the stupidity and insensitivity of some of Uwazuruike’s factional members who always endangered their lives because of Ralph Uwazuruike, who has no interest in members personal as well as family welfare,”
