July 04, 2010, African Examiner

President of the Nigeria Football Federation Sanni Lulu has been impeached and
replaced by Aminu Maigari who will resume duty with immediate effect as interim
president.

Also impeached during a meeting involving nine of the thirteen members of the
executive committee in Abuja are vice president Amanze Uchegbulam and technical
committee chairman Taiwo Ogunjobi .

Obinna Ogbam will now take over from Uchegbulam as the new interim first vice
president.

Lulu,Uchegbulam and Ogunjobi were conspicously missing at the meeting during
which all nine executive members voted to impeach the leadership .

The decision however will still need to be ratified by the full NFF congress.

Meanwhile, FIFA has extended the deadline given to the Nigerian government to
reverse  decision to withdraw from international football for two years till 1800hrs on
Monday.

The World Football Governing body advised in a letter sent to the Nigeria Football
Federation that its emergency committee would decide on the suspension of the
federation by Monday evening unless the federal government's decision is reversed.

FIFA also stated categorically in the letter that it would continue to deal with the NFF
executive committee led by Sanni Lulu, who obviously had not been impeached
before the letter was received.

The world body also hinted that it has commenced the process of inviting another
team to replace Nigeria at this month's FIFA U-20 women championships in
Germany.

Right step in the right direction. House divided against itself will surely fall. Nigeria
has many ways of solving her problems.

emmanuel ehizojie, Lagos
The President move on NFF is a welcome development,Sani Lulu and co came
into the board under  the Federal government support so what are we talking
about here. The board are not productive and creative. All they know is to seat
down and share the national cake.........for good four years Sani Lulu led NFF did
not win any major competition,no solid programme for the under 16,21 and the
female national team, whatever plans FIFA has for the country let them go ahead
heaven will not fall but it will only give us the opportunity to look inward and
re-organise the football business from the begining once again and finally IS FIFA
AIDING CORRUPTION IN NFF WITH THERE STRONG STAND ON NIGERIA
GOVERNMENT.

Franklin, Dubai
I think it will do us no good if the national team should be banned for two years,
the right thing for the president to do, is to remove the so called administrators of
NFF they are the one's killing our football and causing us all this embarrassment.
Otherwise we will see a repetition of south africa 2010 in the near future. So i am
appealing to Mr. President to rescind his decisions and put capable hands there.

Vikky, Lagos
What sad irony! If NFF must be suspended because they are embarrassing the
nation, what do we do to our political class and their mob mentality which they
always display with reckless abandon even when going on record; shall we
suspend them also?
