Northern Yoruba Group Wants FG To Immortalize HID Awolowo

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – A pan Yoruba group under the aegis of Omo Oodua Yourba Community in the 19 Northern States and Abuja, has called on the Federal Government (FG) to immortalize the late matriarch, Chief Mrs. HID Awolowo.

The group said the call became necessary in view of her outstanding contributions and constant advice to all Yourba, both at home and Diaspora to always maintain peace with governments and their neighbours irrespective of ethnic, creed , political and geographical differences.

In a statement jointly signed by its National leader Toye Ogunshuyi and the President, Tunde Oladapo in Plateau State and made available to newsmen Monday in Jos, the group said although her death was devastating, yet, she lived a peaceful life.

The statement described her as a role model and Matriarch who contributed immensely towards the success of both old and modern citizens and urged other women to emulate her good philosophy.

The group also commiserated with the grandson in law, Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo, the people and government of Ogun state and the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that late Hannah Awolowo lived a fulfilled life in the service of God and Humanity.

“The  role of late Yeye Oodua would be evergreen in the minds of many Nigerians towards in particular, her efforts in reducing crises and tension in Plateau , Benue and many states in the North East Zone as well as other areas in the country”, the group said.
