Beginning from Monday, Ondo State Government has declared a 7 days mourning in honour of the late former governor Dr Olusegun Agagu.

Gov. Mimiko, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola, ordered that condolence registers be opened at the Governors Office, Alagbaka, Akure.

He also ordered that the state’s liaison offices in Lagos and Abuja and the headquarters of the 18 local government areas of the state open the condolence register for the late former governor

During his condolence visit to the Ikoyi home of the Agagus, Governor Mimiko described his late predecessor as “a very brilliant man who possessed a remarkable ability for hard work, which was evident as he gave his best to the state first, as deputy governor (in the old Ondo State) and later, as governor.”

In February 2009 election tribunal voided late Dr Agagu’s 2nd term re-election over electoral frauds and irregularities and declared Gov. Mimiko of the Labour Party the winner of the election and since then both politicians have not be best of friends.
