One Dies, Several Injured in Lagos Boat Mishap

One person has been killed while many others sustain various degrees of injuries following a boat mishap at the Ibasa operational area of Inland Waterways in Lagos.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the National Emergency Agency (NEMA), South-west, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the body of the deceased passenger was recovered immediately.

African Examiner source indicated that the 10-passenger boat capsized between Ojo and Tin Can Island on its way to Coconut Island. The high causality during the accident was checked as the passengers wore life-saving jackets. The cause of the mishap is yet to be confirmed.
