FROM IGNATIUS OKPARA, Enugu – Stakeholders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Igbo-Eze North council Government Area of Enugu state, have distanced themselves from all actions taken by Senator Ayogu Eze regarding the outcome of the December 8, 2014 governorship primaries in the State, saying that the lawmaker “is on his own”.
Senator Eze, who hails from the local government area, is one of the aggrieved PDP gubernatorial aspirants who conducted his own parallel primaries last December, following alleged electoral manipulation by the party.
African Examiner reports that Sen. Eze is currently in court with the state chapter of the PDP challenging the alleged irregularities.
However, the Igboeze North PDP stakeholders, made their position known Thursday, through the member representing Igbo Eze North I constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Michael Onyeze.
The legislator, spoke on behalf of the people at the PDP campaign rally held at Ogurute, headquarters of the Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of the State.
They also pledged their loyalty and support to the PDP-led State leadership of Governor Sullivan Chime, re-assuring the party of their commitment to secure a landslide victory for it in all the forthcoming elections.
Addressing the crowd, the Governorship candidate of the party in the State, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, had thanked the people of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area for the tremendous support they gave him during his 12 years at the federal House Representatives.
The PDP governorship hopeful, assured them that he will do more to address their developmental needs if voted into office as their governor..
In his remarks at the event, governor Sullivan Chime of had declared that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State is not collaborating with any political party in the forthcoming general elections, contrary to claims by some candidates of the opposition political parties in the State.
Chime stated that the PDP is popular, strong and formidable in Enugu State and does not need the collaboration of another political party to win elections in the State.
