By Ignatius Okpara, Enugu – The Enugu State Police Command has discovered another baby making factory where five pregnant girls and nine babies of less than one year were recovered.
Our Correspondent gathered that the alleged illegal maternity home, known as “Daughters of Divine Home Pro-live” is located at Aria Road by cemetery axis of Enugu North Council Area of Enugu State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Ebere Amarizu, who made this known to AFRICAN EXAMINER Tuesday in Enugu said “the recovery came as a result of information received by the operatives of the Central police station Enugu.
It would be recalled that no fewer than five illegal baby factories have been discovered by the Police in Enugu from January this year till date.
According to him, on getting the information, “the operatives stormed the home on Friday, (August 21, 2015) where five pregnant girls and nine babies under one year, were recovered and five of the workers were arrested.
The Enugu Police Spokesman hinted that the arrested workers were now helping the operatives of the Anti-Child Trafficking Unit of the State’s criminal intelligence and investigations in their findings.
“However, the alleged owner of the home, a Rev. Sister maintained that she has an approval to run the home from the relevant authority. The evidence was not however produced as at the press time.
“One of the babies recovered from the home was said to be own by second year student of a certain University who got impregnated and put to bed and had to safe keep the baby at the home.
“Investigations have commenced in full scale into the activities of the home as well as its authenticity” Amarizu repeated.
