Police Commission Promotes Officers; Reviews Dismissal Case

By Ganiyu Nasirudeen – The Police Service Commission (PSC) Friday approved the promotion of two Commissioners of Police (CPs), Danladi Mshielbwala and Ibrahim Idris, to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General (AIG) of Police.
In a statement issued in Abuja by its Spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission in its13th plenary meeting which was presided over by its Chairman, Sir Mike Okiro, also exonerated CP Zakari Biu, whose appeal against his dismissal was reviewed by the body.
Biu’s dismissal from service was linked to issues surrounding the escape from the Police custody in FCT Abuja, of a Boko Haram Kingpin, Kabiru Sokoto.
Upon his exoneration, Biu was statutorily retired by the PSC plenary meeting.
