Police Nab 2 Robbers Attempting To Withdraw Money With Stolen ATM Card


Ignatius Okpara, Enugu – Less than 48 hours that police in Udi council Area of Enugu state killed two members of a deadly armed robbery gang, their colleagues in Nsukka have nabbed another two notorious suspects while trying to withdraw money with a stolen ATM card.

The hoodlums, who gave their names as Okwudili Christian Odenyi and Akor Anthony (AKA) Aja, were arrested for offences ranging from Armed Robbery and other crimes.

The state police public Relations officer, PPRO, Ebere Amarizu, who disclosed this to African Examiner Crime Correspondent in Enugu Wednesday night, said two of the gang members identified as Mark Eze AKA Markjay and one alias Shelly are on the run.

He said “the suspects on December 18, 2014 had allegedly gone to their victims house located at Nnaemeka Ikpeze street in Nsukka where they robbed them of their ATM cards, phones, some amount of cash money, a radio amongst other things at gun point.

The PPRO, revealed that arrest of the suspects were made possible, following the nabbing of two other suspects identified as michael Emmanuel alias Snazzy of Oloto street Nsukka and one Chinonso Eze, alias pillars, who resides at court road onitsha Anambra state.

According to Amarizu, operatives of the NO 3 police mobile force Enugu, who were on duty in a bank at Nsukka where the suspects had come to withdraw money, arrested them.

Also recovered from the suspects were wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Enugu state police command image maker, further stated that “following their arrest and interrogation, the suspects revealed other members of the gang earlier arrested.

However “search conducted on Okwudili christain Odenyia, and Akor Anthony saw the recoveries of one matchet and a locally made single barrel gun cut to size with three live cartridges.

Full scale investigations into the incident Amarizu said, have commenced, saying “the suspects are seriously suspected to also be members of a cult group terrorising the area and its environs.

He hinted that manhunt on the fleeing members of the gang has been intensified by the command operatives.
