Rio 2016: Australian Cycling Champion Michael Gallagher Banned Over Failed Drug Test

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Australian Paralympics cycling champion Michael Gallagher has been banned from participating in the forthcoming Rio Games for testing positive to outlawed substance – EPO.

The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (Asada) declared that the cyclist would not be allowed to compete in Rio while the investigation on the matter will be conducted.

The anti-Doping authority restated that 37-year-old Gallagher failed an out-of-competition test at a training camp in July.

The Scotland-born paralympian won track golds in 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Games.

Rio Paralympic Games kick off next Wednesday, September 2016.
