Robbers Attack Editor at Hyattsville Home
By Oludare Sunday Fase
Two armed robbers attacked Nigerian born editor of an online news outlet
www.africansearchlight.com at about 10 pm on Friday on the porch of his home in
Hyattsville, Maryland.
The editor (name withheld) was sitting on the porch of his home talking to his friend on
phone when the two robbers covering their faces with mask, came out from their
hide-out to carry out the crime.
The robbers, one of them waved a silver short gun at the editor, while the second robber
violently dragged him down demanding money and other valuables.
The editor told them he was not having no money on him but offered to go inside and
give them some money, a suggestion that did not go down with the robbers obviously for
fear of reprisal attack.
Having realized that the editor was not having any money on him, the thieves beat him up
thoroughly before they dashed into the dark thin air.
The editor told African Examiner that he struggled with the robbers and used one of
them to cover up in case the gun man pull the trigger.
He later called 911 as police combed the surroundings to check if the thieves still hang
around in the nearby bush.
The editor sustained minor bruises on his knees and feet but lost no money or valuables.
A case number was subsequently given to him by the police.
