Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on Friday restrained the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar and the State Security Service (SSS) from arresting the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mallam  Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

Sanusi’s Lawyers- Ikem Isiekwena,  Mrs V.O.M. Longe, Bashiru Ramini, Loretta Ossai, and Benjamin Omoruyi had on Friday secretly filed an affidavit of urgency deposed to by the suspended CBN governor where he expressed fears that his freedom and personal liberty may be trampled upon.

The said lawyers argued the case inside Justice Buba’s chambers and informed the judge that the embattled former CBN governor deserves to be protected by the court so that his personal liberty would not be violated by agents of the Federal Government.

Efforts by judicial correspondents to get the court processes till evening on Friday, proved abortive abortive, as they were not given copies of the processes.

The matter has been adjourned till February 28 for hearing.
