Singapore Ready to Outlaw and Destroy Kiddies’ Gay Bookseducation, Latest News, News, World News Sunday, July 13th, 2014
The war against homosexuality recorded a boost on Saturday as Singapore authorities frown at some children titles – gay books and may soon consider banning them.
The titles including “And Tango Makes Three,” (about a male-male penguin couple in the Central Park Zoo); “The White Swan Express”, (A Story About Adoption),” which involves a lesbian couple; and “Who’s In My Family: All About Our Families” have been deemed inappropriate by state-run libraries.
The Singaporean Minister of Communications and Information, Yaacob Ibrahim said he supported the decision to destroy all copies and two other titles as the prevailing norms, which the majority of Singaporeans accept, support teaching children about conventional families, not alternative – non-traditional families system which is the focus of the kiddie’s titles.
Similarly, the Singapore’s National Library Board, which runs 26 public libraries has indicated that it would “pulp” the copies of three titles, citing their aversion to an average Singapore’s family values.
