Stop Being Hypocrite, Ekiti Speaker Not Impeached, Fayose Replies APCFeatured, Latest News, Politics Tuesday, November 18th, 2014
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, has debunked claims by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed, that the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, has been impeached.
Reacting to Mohammed’s statement on what happened in the House of Assembly on Monday, Adelusi also charged APC leaders, including Mohammed, to stop being hypocritical.
“It is like Lai Mohammed was woken from a deep slumber or that he was not properly briefed by his people before writing his reaction. This is because Omirin was never impeached by Ekiti lawmakers.
“Also, the Assembly, by its rules forms a quorum with nine members and 10 were at the sitting and not seven as Mohammed would want Nigerians to believe; and whatever they did in their hallowed chamber was their business.
“Governor Ayo Fayose was never near the Assembly Complex and Nigerians should ask APC leaders, why is it that they are always the ones that are right and others are wrong.
“In the APC-controlled state of Edo, Governor Adams Oshiomhole has shut down the Assembly for many months now, APC lawmakers holding their meetings in the governor’s bedroom at Osadebay Avenue, GRA, Benin. Nothing is wrong with that as the PDP members have been shut out!
“In another APC state of Rivers, courts have been shut down for over a year because Governor Rotimi Amaechi wanted to appoint his man the Chief Judge of the state and nothing is still wrong with that.
“Those who have people whose bail processes were about being perfected in courts before the trouble started are in the best position to know how it feels.
“Nigerians are no fools and have removed the media propaganda veil with which the APC covered their faces and can discern truth from absolute falsehood,” he said.
Adelusi also revealed that some APC members of the Ekiti House of Assembly did send names of their candidates to Governor Fayose to members of the local government caretaker committees and the governor obliged them. “Omirin and Lai Mohammed need to have a rethink if they supposed that the APC lawmakers are with the speaker.”
