Student Union Blames Death of 2 UNIJOS Students on ASUU Strike

The Student Union Government (SUG) University of Jos chapter has blamed the death of two of its members on the ongoing ASUU strike, saying the students died out of frustration.

ASUUPresident of the Chapter, Magaji Ajik who stated this on Monday in a chat with journalists in Jos said the deceased students were in 400 level studying building.

“To our knowledge, their death was as a result of frustration, following the prolonged strike, because they were not diagnosed of any disease, and they have been living healthy lives.” Magaji declares

The student leader also attributed the involvement of undergraduate students in crimes and other social-vices nationwide to the prolonged nationwide strike of the University lecturers.

He regretted that that two students of the institution were recently nabbed in Lagos over bank robbery also blaming the incident on the ASUU strike.

According to him, the reason why there are so many crises in education is due to lack of Federal Government’s sincerity to genuinely fund the educational sector.

Ajik appealed to government and ASUU to consider the plights of the students and their parents urging them to resolve their differences as soon as possible so that students can return to class.
