Tinubu reacted to recent comment from Jega that Nigerians should not expect perfect election in 2015. The former governor urged Jega to resign if he could not guarantee a perfect election next year.

Speaking with newsmen after the APC membership registration sensitization meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Lagos, Nigeria, Tinubu said with such comment, “Jega is already admitting failure and laying foundation for failure.”

“If he can’t do the job, let him quit. What do we pay him for? A perfect election makes a perfect society. We must strive to give the people what they want. It has to be a perfect election in 2015, it has to be 99.9 percent perfect. If he wants to lecture again about perfect and imperfection of electoral process, let him go back to the university,” he said.

He decried that the country ought to have learnt enough lessons from the conduct of past elections, while lamenting the constant overseas trips of the INEC boss.

According to him, “Jega is presently moving from one country to the other. Is he saying that he is not learnt enough from this country to give us a perfect election? He is in America now, gallivanting around the countries. Is it the estacodes of his speeches that is enough for us? If he has not learnt from these countries in the last few years, then we can excuse him,” he said.

Highlighting the registration process, Tinubu said the party’s leadership had put modalities in place across the various wards and units in local government to ensure a smooth process of registration scheduled to commence on February 5 and last within six days of commencement.

The APC leader warned intending members to shun the temptation of disrupting the registration process or causing division within the party as those found culpable would face suspension from the party, adding that the party would not condone any group or alliances within the party.

“We’re indivisible and that’s the only way we can achieve victory. We want to show example not just in Lagos but across the country that we are ready to show peace, maturity and leadership and let them know that we know what we are doing and build this party to the course of victory”, he added.

In his speech, Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola urged residents to come out en-masse and register, saying that it was the first duty to ensure that the party achieved victory in the 2015 elections, saying that the strides made by the party across the country could not have been possible if the leadership had not put its foot on the ground and build on its stronghold in Lagos.
